Clean Getaway by Notewrks Review: Effortlessly Cool, Like Your Favorite Pair of Jeans

So I first came across Clean Getaway through the Notewrks Setlist Sample Set and it was one of the scents that made me go “mmmm” and nod my head in approval (tbh though, all of them did, haha).

The Notewrks fragrances do a really good job at offering variety while still keeping everything approachable. There’s something for everyone. Clean Getaway, Sunny is a Feeling and Room For Dessert, all have their own unique direction, but they all feel easy to wear and not overly complicated (maybe more on that in a future post!).

Clean Getaway was the favorite of the bunch, but honestly I really like them all!

Clean Getaway opens with a really light, crisp, fruity freshness from the apple, then it settles into a clean, musky scent with a tiny bit of earthy/nutty/grassiness. As it dries down, it stays true to its name and keeps that clean profile but takes on a more cozy, comforting “it just smells good” kind of vibe.

This is definitely one of those scents that leans more toward a skin scent after a while—not completely, but more in that direction, which I personally love (I’m a skin scent fan). It doesn’t disappear, but it’s not strong or overpowering either. It’s the kind of fragrance/cologne that legit feels effortless and put together without trying too hard. If you’re someone who prefers lighter, more subtle colognes, this’ll be right up your alley.

Even though I don’t personally wear this fragrance, I can still appreciate it for what it is. It leans a touch more masculine for my personal taste, but not in a heavy way. It still feels very wearable and pretty gender neutral overall.

Out of the Notewrks lineup, this ended up being a favorite for both me and my partner, which is what led to getting the full bottle. It’s the kind of scent that’s easy to reach for daily. Don’t know what to wear but want to smell nice? Clean Getaway. It’s a great comfort pick. I’ve also ended up gifting this to a few family members because it’s just so easy to like.

Since this ended up being an everyday scent for my partner (who’s not really into fragrance, but is a great sport since I have him smell every fragrance that I come across lol), I wanted to include his take:

I like it. It’s clean, it smells fresh… it’s just a good everyday scent. It’s bright.
It smells clean and fresh without smelling like soap or cleaner.
It’s pretty balanced. It smells a tiny bit of sweetness but also smells a little earthy.
You know how sometimes something smells good at first and then dries down weird? This doesn’t really do that, it stays balanced.

Clean Getaway is clean, fresh and really easy to like. It’s the kind of fragrance most people will naturally enjoy, even if they’re not super into fragrance. It feels effortlessly cool and reliable, like a favorite pair of jeans you can always count on. And while some people might prefer something more complex, this is a good reminder that something simple and easy can still be really well done. It’s one of those scents most people will just like and will make people next to you genuinely say “you smell nice”.
